Climbing is a potentially dangerous activity. All climbing at Klätterverket is done at your own risk. As a visitor, it’s important to be aware of the risks and follow Klätterverket’s rules.
General Conduct
- Respect each other.
- Avoid swearing and loud shouting.
- Klätterverket has zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia, and bullying. Everyone should feel welcome.
- No one under the influence of alcohol or drugs is allowed in the climbing hall.
- Climbing shoes or clean gym shoes must always be worn on climbing walls. Climbing barefoot or in socks is not allowed.
- If you see someone breaking rules, intentionally or unintentionally, do not hesitate to inform them or contact staff.
Rope Climbing
- The correct certification card must always be visible on the harness during climbing and belaying.
- Top-rope belaying requires a Top Rope Card (Green Card). It is allowed to belay someone without a green card if the card holder ties in, performs buddy checks, and is responsible for the climb.
- Lead climbing and lead belaying require a Lead Climbing Card (Red Card).
- Automatic belaying requires a yellow, green, or red card. It is allowed to climb with an automatic belay without a card if a qualified person operates it, performs buddy checks, and disconnects it after climbing.
- Buddy checks must always be performed before each climb.
- Do not use figure-eight or HMS knots. Slot-model belay devices are allowed, but a assisted-braking belay device is recommended.
- Keep fall zones clear. Never climb directly above or below someone.
- Avoid headphones or anything that may impair hearing or awareness.
- For lead climbing, all quick draws must be clipped. Holds may rotate or break unexpectedly.
- Using Klätterverket facilities for private climbing courses, belaying courses, or training without permission is prohibited.
Bouldering
- Be aware! Never climb above someone or walk under a climber. Climbers on the wall have the right of way.
- Keep mats clear of items like chalk bags, water bottles, etc.
- Supervise children! Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult over 15 with at least a yellow card. Max 2 children per adult. Running in the boulder area is not allowed. Mats are not designed for children and may feel hard.
- Spot each other! Spotting means helping a friend land safely if they fall.
- Always try to climb down. Even controlled falls/jumps carry a risk of injury.
- Sliding on mats in the “tunnel” at Sickla is strictly forbidden.
- Avoid headphones or anything that may impair hearing or awareness.
- Using Klätterverket facilities for private courses in climbing, bouldering, or training without permission is prohibited.
Gym
- Use equipment correctly. Ask if unsure.
- Wipe down and return equipment after use.
- Age limits: Sickla gym – 10 years (children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult); Gasverket gym – 15 years.
